The Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad, LLC (FGA) operates 430 miles of ex-CSX (nee-SAL/L&N) track running east/west along the I-10 corridor between Baldwin, FL and Pensacola through Lake City, with a branch line that runs between Tallahassee, FL to Attapulgus, GA. The railroad is a wholly owned subsidiary of RailUSA along with the 228-mile Grenada Railroad in Mississippi. According to documents filed with the U.S. Surface Transportation Board in December 2021, Macquarie Infrastructure Partners (Australia) intends on purchasing all the assets of RailUSA. Traffic for FGA is roughly 30,000 carloads annually and Grenada moves about 10,000 carloads. |

GMDD 8/2008...Ex-Florida East Coast same R/N. The 4 engines from this order (104-107) were painted red/white/blue like the Rail America fleet due to Fortress Investments ownership of both FEC & RA during that time period. They also had the Isolated Cab to reduce vibration and excess noise, a major issue with the CN & NS fleets. When the GE ES44AC4 order was delivered the SD70M-2s were stored at New Smyrna from 2015 to 2017. The 4 “Rail America” SD70M-2s were then leased out to CSX, BNSF & NS before going into storage at the NS yard in Decatur Ill in 2019. Florida, Gulf and Atlantic purchased the 106 & 107 from First Union Leasing in September 2021. |
