Electric Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Van Buskirk that was taken at the Passenger Station in Harrison, New Jersey, in July of 1969. Prominent here is Penn Central engine #4902, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata as Pennsylvania Railroad number "4909" in May of 1940 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. In this context, it's been repainted and dubbed "American Railroads: 1869-1969" in honor of the 100th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. |
