I have to admit; I love finding stuff like this. These abutments are what remains of one of the many ATSF branches that used to cover the midwest. In this case we're on US64 in Pawnee County OK and it's been 40 years since they carried railroad tracks across this road located east of the town of Pawnee. The 24 April 1966 Middle Division employee timetable lists this line as the Cushing District; which consisted of 133 miles of track from Newkirk to Shawnee. The BNSF's former Frisco Avard Sub still runs about a half-mile north of here; the Cushing Sub, however, was abandoned in 1975. |
