What happens to old CTA units? These avoided the scrap yard and are now museum pieces at the Monticello Railway Museum in downstate Illinois. This is the old "Skokie Swift."

Tom Scott General This Skokie Swift set avoided the scrap yard for a little while, but not long. It was displayed for several years at the Museum, but fell into disrepair. The Museum tried to market them to others - either cash or trade - but there were no takers. Finally, the cars were scrapped with major parts going to the Illinois Railway Museum at Union, IL, which has a sister set. 8/29/2024 1:42:12 PM
