Title:  DSL 2-8-2 #406 - Denver & Salt Lake
Description:  Built by Lima in 1915, it was originally intended for the D&SL for the Rollins Pass route. Unfortunately, they had problems negotiating the curving alignment and slipped because of their power, according to Drury (1993). Still they ran until the late 1940s and even received Coffin feedwater heaters (cobra hooded). The loco was scrapped in April of 1952. Specs - serial #5706, class K-63, 55" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 295,000 lb, tractive effort of 62,684 lb. Sold and renumbered DRGW #1226 later in 1947. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  Great roster shot of Atichison, Topeka & Santa Fe 2-8-0 #1 built by Burnhams, Willliams & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in September of 1880 originally as ATSF #132. This is the oldest surviving ATSF steam locomotive. The loco had several numbers to the years - #912 in 1898, 2414 in 1900, rebuilt to 0-8-0, restored to 2-8-0 as #132, in 1950 overhauled with the new #1 and name "Cyrus K. Holliday". Finally donated to the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka, KS and renumbered one more time to #132. An unknown photographer caught it while it was #1.

Specs - 57" drivers, 195 psi boiler pressure, 21x30" cylinders, engine weight of 179,300 lb, tractive effort of 38,500 lb. The loco finally was retired and sold for scrap to Commerical Metals Company on 11/9/1954. An unknown photographer took the photograph.
