Title:
PRR 5606, BS-7, 1967
Description:
Oil Power. Here is an original 35mm color slide by Paul Morrissey that was taken in March of 1967. Prominent here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5606 and #8033. Both were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #5606 is a BS-7 constructed in June of 1950 and rated at 750 horsepower. #8033 is a BS-10M built as #9433 in May of 1950, rated at 1,000 horsepower, renumbered "8033" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger, and retired in October of 1967. Partially visible at the right is PRR engine #5541, an AS-16MS constructed by the American Locomotive Company as number "8841" in December of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, renumbered "5541" in preparation for the merger, and retired in October of 1967. The location is not recorded.
