UP GP20 496
Description:
Union Pacific Railroad GP20 496 at Council Bluffs, Iowa on an unknown day in November 1963, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 496 was built in August 1960 (c/n 26071) as UP 726, renumbered in 1962-63 to 496 to avoid conflict with the GP30's. It was sold to Bargains Galore in Vancouver, Washington in August 1980 and scrapped. Also seen is UP GP9B 316B, built in September 1957 (c/n 23722), retired in August 1975 and rebuilt by the UP at Omaha to Slug S4.
