While waiting for the "Spirit of the Union Pacific," UP SD70AH 1943, to depart Fairfax, we were trying to get some long exposure shots of it sitting, there when Eli (KCFanner) noticed this perfectly placed Diet Pepsi can sitting propped on top of this surface right next to UP 1943 basking under the orangey glow of the yard lights. Out of pure coincidence, the colors on this randomly found can matched 1943s livery almost perfectly, so we had to snap some photos before the train continued on its northbound journey. |

MJRX SD40-2 2018, built as UP SD40-2 8012 in June 1974, sits outside of Railway Service Contractors in the Fairfax District on a stormy March afternoon. MJRX 2018 was painted for the Fort Worth and Western in late 2010 after being bought from National Rail Equipment, and operated as the only "Snoot Nose" locomotive on FWWR until recently when it was aquired by Rail Service Contractors and received black patches and new MJRX reporting marks. Being from Texas, this locomotive is definitely out of place here in Kansas, but the livery was coincidentally based on both railroads that have operated the Falls City Subdivision and switching operations in and around Fairfax; Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific. |
