Fairly nice b&w photos of a few Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-2 Mikados taken in the 1950's. The photos were re-posted on 2/19/2025 after the RRPA crash.

Description:
This 2-8-2 Mikado was built by Baldwin in April of 1921 as Baltimore & Ohio #4442. The solid locomotive served the B&O for nearly 35 years before being retired in November of 1956 at the Mt Clare, MD yard. Specs - class Q-4, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No location, date or photographerwas listed for the photo.

Description:
Baldwin,3/1921 serial #54566 Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-2 Mikado #4405 was built by Baldwin in March of 1921 and served the B&O for nearly 36 years before being retired in March of 1957 at Mt Clare, MD. Just before retirement, it was assigned a new number B&O #402 but probably was not renumbered on the loco before its retirement. Specs - class Q-4, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:
Built by Baldwin in March of 1921, B&O 2-8-2 Mikado #4408 served the railroad for nearly 37 years before being retired and scrapped in March of 1958 at Mt Clare, MD. This photo shows it sitting in a storagte/scrap line. Just prior to being scrapped, it was assigned a new number of B&O #410 but probably wasn't actually renumbered before the scrapper's torch hit it. MD. Specs - class Q-4, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No location, date or photographer was listed for the photo.
