CIL 2-8-2 #524 - Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon)         
Built by Alco-Brooks in August of 1912, this iconic Monon Mikado power, CIL #524, was used in both passenger and freight service during its lifetime. After nearly 36 years, it was retired on February 26, 1948 and sold for scrap later in April of 1948. Specs - J-1 class, 63" drivers, 170 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight 286,000 lb, tractive effort of 56,800 lb. Robert P. Morris photo
