MILW 2-8-2 #736 - Milwaukee Road
Long before a Fairbanks-Morse H-12-44 loco wore the number MILW 736, this Alco-Schenectady 2-8-2 Mikado had the honor. Built in November of 1914 as Chicago Milwaukee & St. Paul #8176 (serial #54966), it was renumbered in 1938 to CMStP&P #736. Eventually it was retired in March of 1952. This photo appears to be a view of it in the scrap line - note the missing light, bell and main drive rod. Specs - L2 class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26 x 30" cylinders, engine weight of 275,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No exact day in 1952 was given. Fred Ziebe took this photo.
