PRR 8776, BS-12AMS, 1957
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Avondale, Pennsylvania, on 26 May 1957. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8776 and another unit whose number is not recorded. #8776 is a BS-12AMS road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in September of 1952, rated at 1,200 horsepower, and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, they're pulling one of the PRR's patented "Off-the-Beaten-Path" railfan excursions. ("Stoneborobranch"; #1 of 10)
