Typical freight movement by Delaware and Hudson Alco RS2 #4003 at an unidentified location in New York, Built by Alco in December of 1946 (serial #75115), it was one of a few RS2 that was equipped with a steam generator for use on passenger service. It was retired in May of 1961. Somehow this loco was spotted in a shop area at Rock Island, IL, in March 25, 2017. Anyone know of its disposition since? Did it become an IAIS loco? No location, date or photographer was listed for the photo. |

| Description: |
Built by Alco in August of 1952, the road switcher lasted until retirement in January of 1978. It was leased to the Providence & Worcester RR as their #161. Not sure the date is accurate for this slide as the unit was repainted in PW gray, orange and white scheme around 1973. The color scheme remained at least until 1981. Originally built as LV #406 by Alco in November of 1964, it came under the roster of the Delaware & Hudson. Sometime after 1986, the unit was sold to the Arkansas & Missouri RR. Note the handwritten "A&M" below the cab window. The number would eventually be painted red and renumbered AM 62. No photographer was listed for the color slide. |
